Position Summary

We are recruiting an energetic and empathetic Registered Nurse to join our team as a Clinical Coordinator II - RN, for our Child Neurology Division. The Clinical Coordinator II - RN will report directly to the Child Neurology Division Chief along with the Senior Manager of Practice Operations.

Responsibilities

Administrative Duties:

  • Assist in development, plan and implementation of departmental policies and procedures that will support the clinical outpatient practice.
  • Work closely with the Senior Practice Manager in the supervision of Certified Medical Assistants ensuring all competencies and clinical responsibilities are completed accurately and ensuring that the CMA’s are updated with the new medical procedures and techniques.
  • In collaboration with the CMA’s, maintain an adequate inventory of all clinical supplies and linens.
  • Routinely remove any expired medical supplies/materials.
  • Coordinate patient flow with the physicians and other staff to ensure a positive patient experience including chaperoning when appropriate.
  • Actively participate in departmental clinical meetings regarding policy changes and updates.

Clinical Duties:

  • Review of daily request for prescriptions requests, making sure all prescriptions and refills are addressed and documented
  • Ensures continuity of care for patients with post-hospital discharge and facilitate the outpatient appointments with administrative team
  • Triage pediatric neurology patients with questions and concerns regarding medical care
  • Recognize emergencies and has knowledge of emergency procedures as related to pediatric neurology
  • Assist, facilitate, advocate necessary medical care timely based on the patients’ need which are achieved through collaboration with the patient and those involved in the patient's care with complete documentation
  • Provide patient education and emotional support and ability to administer medications including IM injections and oral medications
  • Assist for obtaining prior authorizations for medications, therapies, procedures with coordination of insurances and required letters in a timely manner
  • Write letters of medical necessity and complex diagnosis letters.
  • Accurate and precisely fill out forms with clinical information.
  • Screen, triage and disseminate EPIC messages appropriately
  • Other related duties as assigned/required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to direct work, drive change and effectively collaborate
  • Must have a current New York State Registered Nurse License and maintain and renew when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Neurology or Pediatric experience preferred
