Oral & Facial Surgery of East Alabama and West Georgia is looking for a new Clinical Assistant in our Columbus, Georgia office.
This position promotes quality care in a stress free, comfortable environment. Clinical Assistants communicate effectively with patients, maintain equipment and inventory, obtain radiographs, and adhere to all OSHA requirements to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. This position is also cross trained as a Scheduling Coordinator to help at the front desk.
The starting compensation for this role is $14.00 per hour.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Not all of these duties will be physically performed by this employee, but they all fall under the purview of this position.
  • Review patients’ medical history and records
  • Obtain radiographs as needed
  • Chart and record treatment information in chart
  • Seat patients in a timely manner
  • Acknowledge patients cordially, with a smile, and interact pleasantly with patients and family members
  • Assist with front desk responsibilities as needed
  • Assist with emergency patients as needed
  • Prepare patients for diagnosis and/or treatment
  • Recover patients
  • Perform post-operative patient care
  • Utilize effective scripts for all patient interactions
  • Clean and stock operatories
  • Perform instrument sterilization and infection control
  • Prepare surgical instruments for procedures
  • Maintains laundry
  • Comply with practice inventory system
  • Organize stock room as needed
  • Comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and practice policies at all times
  • Daily setup, cleaning, and closing of operatories, x-ray and sterilization
  • Setup and breakdown operatories for patient procedures
  • Setup trays/instruments for procedures
  • Follow staff schedule for maintenance, cleaning, and closing of practice common areas
  • Maintain and use equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions
  • Assist with the implementation of marketing strategies such as asking for referrals and testimonials
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Personnel Coordinator and/or doctor(s)

  • Basic technological knowledge
  • Ability to view patient needs as a top priority
  • A basic knowledge of dentistry and oral surgery is preferred but not required
