POSITION SUMMARY:

Monitors and enforces current industry and in-house belay techniques and safety guidelines on the Climbing Wall.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for user group and patron monitoring during staffed hours on the climbing wall.
• Provide a high level of customer service to Community Center guests.
• Enforce safety standards, written rules, facility policies and current industry belay and safety techniques.
• May be responsible for instructing classes and leading outdoor climbing trips.
• Responsible for certifying climbers for “Climbing Wall Safety Orientation and Belay Test” to have access to wall during un-staffed hours.

CORE COMPETENCIES:

• Possess previous climbing and/or climbing wall experience.
• Possess strong customer service skills.
• Ability to enforce safety standards in accordance with facility regulations and industry best practices.
• Ability to work independently, use good judgment, take responsibility, diplomatically respond, and handle problems, and be an effective leader and role model.
• Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively with other staff members, parents and participants.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS

Necessary:

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of hire date.

JOB LOCATION: Community Center, 100 Wulfsohn Road, Glenwood Springs, CO

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

CATEGORY: Part-Time

HOURS: Not to exceed 28 hours per week

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.22 - $17.85 per hour
