Stipend
$2900
Additional pay
$1000
Unite Oregon is a membership organization led by people of color, immigrants and refugees, rural communities, and people experiencing poverty. Working across Oregon, we build a unified intercultural movement for justice grounded in the belief that organizing people who are suffering oppression has the greatest potential to affect the root causes of economic, political, and social injustice. Our community members have to and will disproportionately live with climate impacts for the foreseeable future, hence, Unite Oregon has launched a bold initiative, Climate Resilient & Community Innovation (CRCI), in pursuit of transformative systems change.
As a new project utilizing our current work’s frameworks to apply to climate resilience, CRCI will offer emergency and cooling centers for gatherings, emergency supplies pick up, and emergency planning and preparedness training opportunities. CRCI will have a small business incubator, workforce training center, child care center, and community space that offers social service programs such as child care, housing, youth development, and leadership and emergency resource navigation. CRCI will advance issues that are critical to rebuild communities. The climate, health, social, and economic crises we are experiencing demand proactive investments in communities that are disproportionately impacted by historically inequitable investment practices.
The Climate Corps Fellow placed with Unite Oregon will assist in developing, establishing, and expanding the CRCI model around the state as well as building the program for CRCI including green workforce and business development. We hope to establish 3 centers in the next 2 years (Multnomah and Washington Counties, Medford areas). This project will provide the following key benefits and outcomes: the placed Fellow will provide capacity building support within Unite Oregon to develop and deliver programs, and local Oregon communities will benefit from increased access to climate resilience resources. For the Fellow, the opportunity to have an experience of early career mentorship and networking has a significant economic and social impact, as they are able to identify and rapidly connect with their commitment to a more just and equitable vision of a climate resilient future and build their skills, community, and experience in the region.
SEI requires all employees to be Vaccinated against COVID-19.
SEI is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We strive to reflect the diverse communities we serve, especially those most impacted by climate change and other kinds of environmental, social, and economic injustices. Persons of color, persons with disabilities, older adults, and members of the LGBTQ community are strongly encouraged to apply.
