SUMMARY:
Responsible for assignment and handling of a high volume of less complex insurance claims, which includes: coverage analysis, investigations, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement. Adjudicates claims within assigned settlement authority and adheres to applicable laws, regulations, and company guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Processes “Fast Track” initial and supplemental claims in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Establishes, evaluates, and maintains individual case reserves in accordance with the Claims Department Reserving Philosophy.
  • Evaluates coverage, gathers evidence and documentation, and determines whether coverage is applicable for assigned losses.
  • Determines dollar amount for covered damages, and adjudicates the claim within authority level and in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company guidelines.
  • Documents the claim file in a prompt, clear, and concise manner, with the facts gathered in the investigation.
  • Sets up and reviews files and takes action needed to close out pending files.
  • Issues loss and expense payments regarding towing claims through a bulk billing process.
  • Coordinates all draft printer functions (maintaining supplies, unlocking and locking, etc.).
  • Reviews and processes claims submitted through the Agent One-Shot Claims Program.
  • Assists with consumer calls as part of the Active Call Directory (ACD) Group for the Department.

Provides excellent customer service to all external and internal customers, and maintains good working relationships with field and Home Office personnel.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED, and two years of general office experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to operate personal computer and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people in person, electronically, and on the phone.
  • Ability to learn the general principles of insurance and claims processing.
  • Ability to read and study policies to keep appraised of changes.
  • Ability to write and speak Spanish preferred but not required.
