We love logistics, but freightin’ ain’t easy - it can get lost, stolen, damaged, or delayed. We have a solution though – our Claims team swoops in and figures out a solution to the issue. The Claims Analyst can take complex problems – like OS&D, accidents, delayed shipments, hostage loads, etc. – break them into their individual parts, and solve the issue in a way that delivers insight or drives business results for our customers and Steam.

Reporting to our Claims Manager, this role will be a strong supporter of our Sales and Operations teams by assisting with claims related issues, acting as the subject matter expert, along with providing world-class customer service. A strong sense of diplomacy is needed, as this role will be the intermediary between Steam, our carriers, insurance companies, and customers.

Primary Responsibilities

• Act as the point of contact for Claims related investigation - gathering and reviewing documentation as received.
• Create the claim record in our Transportation Management System and/or Claim Management System. Submit and follow through on formal claims to motor carriers or other related parties.
• Assist different departments network in handling issues related to hostage loads, accidents, tow yards, fires, filing police report, etc., to mitigate overall claim losses to both Steam and our customer(s).
• Develop and sustain regular cadence of reporting issues/concerns with the Claims Manager.
• Collaborate alongside various departments at Steam - Accounting, Sales, Operations, and Legal to resolve claim-related issues.

What We Need from You

• 1-5 years of claims experience in logistics, CCPAC certification preferred.
• Strong intellectual curiosity and knack for problem solving.
• Ability to quickly shift gears between different projects and priorities, sometimes pivoting from being in the weeds to acting in a consulting capacity.
• Experience working cross-functionally with different departments and stakeholders.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to remain cool as cucumber in stressful moments.
