gas facilities, including transmission operators, municipalities, master meter operators, and local

We are seeking a Natural Gas Engineer to join our Minnesota team to perform technical services
related to pipeline compliance, operation, design and construction activities for owners and
operators of natural gas facilities. In this role you will learn practical on-the-job experience serving
our clients and partners in our Minnesota office. The job will encompass various aspects of natural
gas compliance, operation, and maintenance requirements. Work is performed both inside and
outside; and must conform to the strict requirements of state and federal pipeline safety
regulations as well as company procedures.
What you will be doing:
Engineering activities relative to the design, operation, and maintenance of the pipeline(s)
and related natural gas facilities
Work with Engineering Staff to develop bid proposals, contracts, design specifications,
and material lists for natural gas projects
Perform basic design, layout, research and prepare the drafts of reports, studies and
surveys
Provide technical assistance to clients and field personnel
Assist other USDI offices, as needed, with engineering projects and operating obligations
Maintain Operator Qualification (OQ) certification, as appropriate
Understand, review, and comply with state and federal pipeline safety regulations
Perform Construction Inspection as needed
Perform all work in compliance with company and government standards, procedures,
and requirements
What you bring to the role:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
Natural Gas or Utility experience
Able to work independently and be self-motivated
Possess good written and verbal communication skills
Physically prepared for hands-on job tasks in all types of weather conditions
Willingness to travel, including overnight stays
Experience with GPS and/or GIS systems and software a plus
Maintain a positive work atmosphere through effective interactions and communications
with co-workers, management, and clients.
Maintain a safe environment for co-workers, clients, and the public through adherence to
established safety standards and timely reporting of potential hazards
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
Certain duties of this position are classified as “safety-sensitive.” Therefore, the person in
this position will be subject to mandatory testing for drugs and/or alcohol on a random,
reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up basis in accordance
with the Drug-Free Workplace and drug testing policy.
