HDR is currently seeking a Civil Engineer for our Resources Business Group located in Rosemont, Illinois. Our team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Structural and Civil Engineering. This person will be responsible for the design of facilities related sites in support of a variety of markets including Oil, Gas and Chemicals, Food and Beverage, Mining and Industrial Facilities. They will be expected to coordinate and work closely with a multidiscipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration. This individual should be self-motivated, collaborative and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound civil designs.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Civil Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Design and plan production for general civil on a wide variety of projects, including site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, pipline routing and associated civil engineering activities
  • Perform quantity calculations
  • Conduct permitting with Jurisdictional Authorities
  • Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as needed
  • Function as Project Manager Assistant or Project Engineer as needed
  • Review work of other professionals and technicians as needed
  • Serve as a technical expert in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity as needed
  • Plan and develop projects or design activities with significant impact on major company programs as needed
  • Prepare/Review civil engineering scope of work for proposals
  • Engage with clients to build relationships and be involved project related production meetings
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications


Required Qualifications

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed as a professional engineer (PE) in the State of Illinois or ability to acquire within 12 months of employment
  • 5 years civil engineering experience across the full spectrum of civil design
  • Strong operating knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D
  • Knowledge of pipeline routing and station design standards
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
  • Preference given to local candidates
