Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana and our 500 employees are passionate about finding new solutions for our community s health and social service needs. Nowhere are new solutions needed more than for the opioid epidemic that is increasingly ravaging our area (overdose deaths in New Orleans increased 35% last year). Women and their families are suffering, and comprehensive treatment for women with their children is almost non- existent. We are stepping up to develop a continuum of family-focused substance use disorder (SUD) treatment programs for women with their children, and we are seeking the right person to lead the work.
Job Summary
The Chief of Integrated and Behavioral Health is a new leadership position to expand our behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment (SUD) services. Reporting directing to the President/CEO, they will be a strategic thought partner and advisor to the CEO. Their initial focus will be on building a family-focused recovery continuum, including residential SUD treatment for women with children (ASAM Level 3) and non-residential treatment and services. While governed locally, Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana is affiliated with Volunteers of America, Inc., one of the nation s largest, comprehensive human services organizations with extensive experience with family-focused recovery programs that work. New Orleans is one of several locations where Volunteers of America is currently developing two-generation recovery services, and our new leader will benefit from national guidance and collaboration with peers.
Responsibilities
The Chief of Integrated and Behavioral Health will provide-
- Hands-on program and business development: Bringing a continuum of family-focused recovery services on-line through collaboration with state partners, managed health plans, and health care and other providers, to achieve tangible clinical impact.
- Visionary and collaborative clinical leadership: Building internal behavioral health clinical teams (LCSW/therapists, peer support specialists, MAT administration and certified nurse practitioners and other mental health and SUD clinicians) and providing program clinical oversight and quality feedback mechanisms
- Data-driven and fiscally sound management: Directing person-centered, trauma-informed services, ensuring quality and cost effectiveness, and achieving highest standards possible.
- An articulate and authentic voice for women and families- Promoting family focused recovery by networking with recovery organizations and services and advocating for equitable, culturally responsive solutions.
The ideal Candidate: A highly credible behavioral health/SUD clinical leader with experience in design and scaling of clinically effective, evidence-based SUD programming. Strategic thinker capable of building a program with national impact. Enthusiastic about developing solutions to challenges and working in an environment that strives for excellence.
Qualifications:
- Master s degree in a Behavioral Health discipline required.
- Certified professional SUD counselor required Other desired degrees include consulting/licensed psychologist (PhD), psychiatric nurse (MSN), or clinical social worker (ACSW)
- Appropriate professional registration/certification by state/national authority required.
- 10+ years of technical experience with SUD treatment and 7+ years of supervisory and management preferred.
