Chef Instructor - Cooking and Pastry

We are looking for a Chef that can teach both savory cooking techniques, as well as basic French pastries such as croissants and eclairs. Financial incentives are available for a Chef that can engage with the community and help build the school.
For the right person, this job could be very lucrative without requiring long nights and holidays.

Responsibilities
· Lead both novice and experienced students through the concepts and techniques of the curriculum
· Demonstrate strong technical skills including both savory cooking and classic French pastries
· Ensure that each student has such a great experience they refer their friends and enroll in additional courses!
· Dishes that are consistently impressive with respect to plating, texture and flavor
· Deliver organized lectures, that begin and end on time
· Evaluate each student daily, giving constructive feedback and holding each student to a high standard with specific instructions on how to improve their work; record grades daily
· Work well as a team with other instructors to cover staffing and procure food and supplies
· Be positive, helpful and engaging with students
· Ensure that classes are conducted in a manner that complies with principles of food safety and sanitation
· Oversee the proper storage and use of perishables
· Provide sound and practical guidance on how to develop a career, and also how to build a business in the food & beverage industry
· Accommodate special needs students
· Attend meetings as required and follow school guidelines
· Host cooking classes and competitions for corporate groups and represent the school as a Private Chef or Consultant to other businesses
· Flexible schedule to accommodate day, night, weekend classes and events preferred, but no required. We are willing to look at candidates with part time availability. We do not work any holidays other than New Years Eve.
Required Work Experience, Skills and Education
· Teaching/ industry experience, being familiar with a culinary school, and fine dining skills are preferred, but not required.
· The knowledge to teach both cuisine/savory and pastry/baking courses is preferred
· Professional training and/or familiarity with culinary schools preferred
· Strong interest in sales, with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; strong presentation and interpersonal skills. We want our students to tell everyone what a wonderful experience they had at our school
· Team player looking to learn and collaborate with other instructors and staff
· Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
· Working knowledge of Word and Excel
· Must be able to teach basic French pastries such as croissants and eclairs.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
