Job description
Position Summary:
Responsible for all aspects of orthotics, including evaluation, application, modification, and instructions. Orthotist may be involved in internships, job shadowing and training within SG Homecare.
Responsibilities:
- Work in conjunction with office setting, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Home Health Agencies, rehab facilities, hospitals, house calls and acute care.
- Ordering and stocking orthotic devices, maintain stock levels and reduce overhead cost
- Oversee administrative staff and assist with patient scheduling and patient flow
- Conduct educational classes for doctors and staff as needed (In-service)
- Able to work with lab technicians to adjust/modify custom orthoses
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to work with intricate mechanical parts
- Ability to lift/move up to 100 pounds
- Occasionally required to sit
- Repetitive use of hands and fingers; gripping; short distance reaching with hands and arms.
- Work in a noisy, dusty environment with some less pleasant odors
- Required to use close and distance vision and able to adjust focus
- Ability to speak and hear in a noisy environment while wearing protective equipment
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year formal residency in orthotics
- Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills
- Self-starter, motivated and detail oriented
- Problem solving skills
