CATHOLIC TEACHER- RELIGIOUS EDUCATION SERVICES

Location: Tampa, Fl (AFB)

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Shall provide overall development and implementation of the Catholic Religious Education program, conforming to the directives of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, as given in the General Directory for Catechesis and the National Directory for Catechesis. This includes meeting the needs of children from pre-school through grade 12, facilitating the RCIA program and teaching baptismal catechesis.

• Developing, proposing, and tracking a 12-month calendar of Catholic Religious Education events and scheduled classes to be submitted to the Catholic Priest or his designate in June for the next Fiscal Year.

• Coordinating with the Catholic Priest or his designate on proper scheduling and securing of facilities.

• Recruiting and training volunteers to staff the Religious Education program, including sacramental preparation.

• Providing an orientation for all new teachers and other training workshops, as needed, during the school year.

• Preparing a government funded area-wide Teacher Handbook, approved by the Catholic Priest or his designate.

• Preparing a government funded area-wide Parent Handbook, approved by the Catholic Priest or his designate.

• Shall conduct Religious Education staff meetings, as needed, and attending Liturgy Commission meetings in the chapel conference room or annexes.

• Prepare Religious Education publicity materials approved by the Catholic Priest or his designate.

• Shall support the logistical needs of the teaching staff in a timely manner.

• Develop and track the annual Catholic Religious Education budget, with the proposed budget submitted to the Catholic Priest or his designate no later than November for the fiscal year.

• Provide the required Air Force Chaplain Corps Activity Reporting System (AFCCARS) religious education statistics to the Catholic Priest or designee. Reports are submitted monthly to Catholic Priest by email no later than the last duty day of the month.

• Shall prepare for the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Confirmation and Eucharist in a developmentally appropriate fashion. This includes meeting with the students participating in sacramental preparation, as well as their parents.

• Shall prepare, coordinate and transmit sacramental records to the Archdiocese of Military Services and/or other governing Catholic bodies, as applicable.

• Shall maintain office hours, coordinated with the Catholic Priest that provide suitable availability to manage program elements.

• Must be positive, self-directed and motivated, with the depth and breadth of knowledge necessary to support the Catholic Religious Education program. Must be able to efficiently organize and manage diverse ministry program elements.

• Must be able to effectively communicate the needs and goals of the Catholic Religious Education Program and the overall Catholic Parish vision to staff, volunteers, and customers.

• Attends Catholic Parish Council as an official member.

• Maintain inventory of all forms of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA.

• Maintain and update Religious Education directory.

• Shall provide orientation and training to volunteers for all religious education procedures.

• Shall attending scheduled Catholic Parish Council meetings at the base chapel.

• Prepare Catholic religious education publicity materials approved by the Catholic Priest or his designate.

Hours and Performance:

• Flexibility is paramount, as a minimum of 4 hours each week will be dedicated to weekend duties.

• Maintain availability for extended hours during special events (such as Vacation Bible School, Special R.E. Events), which can result in lengthy and odd hours to be compensated for during adjacent weeks.
