MaximHealthcare Staffing is seeking a Cardiac Cath Lab Tech to assist physicians with diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease and cardiac arrhythmias in the Cath/EP Lab. Specializes in the care of patients undergoing PTCA, stent placement, IABP placement, EP devices and ablations.
Responsibilities:
- Assists physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease and cardiac arrhythmias in an invasive procedure arena, specializing in the care of patients undergoing:
- Basic diagnostic catheterization procedures on adult patients with known and suspected congenital and acquired cardiac and peripheral vascular disease.
- Basic interventional procedures which may include any of the following: PTCA, stent prep and placement, IABP placement and operation
- Basic EP procedure may include any of the following; EP studies, implantation of pacemaker, ICD, BIV ICD and ablations.
- Operates physiologic and radiographic equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Maintains established professional standards and observes all safety requirements to achieve a high Level of quality patient care.
- Continually attends in-service training classes to keep critical patient care and equipment skills current.
- Responsible for patient transport; Maintains good communication with the patient and continually evaluates the patient's status during the procedure, provides age and gender specific care, preps access site according to lab standard practice; performs EKG lead placement, blood pressure and pulse oximetry setup for hemodynamic monitoring.
- Responsible for procedure room preparation and breakdown duties including: fluid preparation with accurate drug concentrations, stocking rooms, narcotic counts, daily QC checks, radiographic, hemodynamic and computer setup, and room cleanup.
- Prepares sterile procedure tray and patient sterile field appropriately for specified procedure type
- Observes all occupational and radiation safety regulations; wear all required personal protective equipment (wearing badges, lead aprons, goggles, gloves)
- Acquires and accurately documents pertinent patient data on encounter form and enter into hemodynamic and X-ray systems.
- May be required to perform function in all roles and may rotate during the day as defined by the client.
- Room circulator- Patient interaction, monitoring/vital signs and procedural documentation, setup equipment such as IABP, power injector, temporary pacer, biopsy, and sterile equipment/catheters/balloons/wires handoffs, running blood oximetry for cardiac output;
- Assists physician with EP Diagnostic and Mapping systems which includes Carto, EPMed and ESI.
- Maintains sterile procedures, infectious controls, observes all fluid patency of catheters, balloons and manifolds, assists according to physician direction
- Performs functions in the control room operating the X-ray Equipment and hemodynamic monitoring equipment, reporting EKG readings, blood pressure, heart rate, pulse ox changes, records homodynamic pressures accordingly, scans pertinent patient and procedural information into hemodynamic system, assists with X-ray equipment and transfers images to digital archive.
- Adheres to all Company and client rules, policies and procedure
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate of CCAHEP or RCIS, or an accredited program preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred in biology, anatomy, physiology, or a related field
- At least 1 year of experience in related field, preferred.
- Successful completion of Maxim Staffing Solutions testing process.
- Current BLS card.
- ACLS/PALS per contract requirements.
- Current physical exam if required per state regulations or contract requirements.
- Current TB test or chest x-ray.
