SHIFT TIMES:
6:30AM-3PM, 1PM-6PM, rotating weekends 9am-1:30pm
or closing shift: 3pm to close (10pm)
Under the general supervision of Management, sets up, operates, and closes computerized cash register in University Dining Center Operation. Has a working knowledge of all food and beverage items offered on menu including product identity, prices, portions, and serving techniques.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Opens cash register at beginning of shift. Ensures cash till is at appropriate amount for start of service. Ensures stock is up to par in all areas indicated as cashier responsibility by management.
· Operates cash register accurately, ringing up all transactions, including cash sales, employee meals, department charges, and charges for both debit and charge cards.
· Diagnoses and corrects minor cashier errors when operating cash register. Is able to correct minor machine failure problems.
· At completion of service, closes out register. Calculates amount of total cash and counts cash bank to ensure correct amount. Accumulates cash and transaction materials and personally delivers to unit manager. Cleans register and supplies register area with designated items.
· Maintains a service area with designated supplies of food and beverage items which include paper goods and canned and bottled beverages, packaged snacks and coffee preparation.
· Provides excellent customer service to students, staff, and the general public. Deals with problems and complaints courteously and efficiently, or refers guest to someone who will help.
· May provide functional guidance and training to student assistant cashiers.
· Safeguards income at all times.
· Maintains work area by cleaning and sanitizing as needed.
· Knows and practices principals of food sanitation, personal health and cleanliness, time management, fire prevention, safety, accident prevention, and theft prevention.
· Safeguards all storage areas by locking each after usage.
· Knows and adheres to Bowling Green State University and BGSU Dining rules and regulations.
· Communicates positive values to staff and customers through actions, provides high quality customer service.
· Support the mission, core values and practices of BGSU.
· Deals with emergencies.

QUALIFICATIONS
· High School diploma required or equivalent experience.
· Ability to carry out simple instructions; read and write English; copy and record figures.
· Knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (lbs.).
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
· Ability to stand for entire scheduled shift - may be between 8 and 9 hours.
· Pleasant, congenial personality, with good interpersonal communication skills.
· Clean, well-groomed, neat appearance necessary.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.60 - $15.30 per hour
