Job description
New Alternatives, Inc. is a private non-profit agency that provides a wide range of services to children, youth and families in San Diego and Orange Counties. Services include residential, outpatient, day treatment and in-home support services. The agency is committed to employing Trauma Informed Care principles in all its programs. The New Alternatives Incredible Families program works with families who are in the process of reunification. We provide individual, group and family therapy, supervised visitation, case management, and parent coaching services throughout San Diego County.
New Alternatives, Inc. is looking for motivated and experienced Engagement Specialists who understand how to engage children and parents who have experienced adversity. The ideal candidates speak Spanish and have solid mental health services experience working with children and adults in the child welfare system.
New Alternatives, Inc. falls under the California Public Health Order and is additionally required by our county contract to ensure that all employees are vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.
Responsibilities
Engagement Specialists will provide:
- Case management services to promote successful reunification
- In-home support services to help stabilize behaviors that will lead to successful reunification
- Therapeutic transportation services with children and teens
- Therapeutic visitation and parent coaching services
- Co-facilitation of Incredible Years parenting groups (training provided)
- Clear communication when documenting and interacting with the team
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to engage, motivate and build rapport with families who have faced great adversity
- Experience working with children, youth and or adults who have faced adversity
- Spanish speaker preferred
