The Emergency Shelter area of Hennepin County's Health and Human Services needs you! We are seeking multiple temporary Case Management Assistants to join a team of non-congregate shelter workers to help families experiencing homelessness.

Current Hennepin County employees who refer a candidate hired into an open competitive position may be eligible for a $500 referral bonus. For more information visit employee referral program.
Location and hours:
These positions will be performed on-site at various community sites within Hennepin County. Staff are needed to work anywhere from a few shifts a week up to 40 hours per week. Shifts include Sundays through Thursdays from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m., Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. as well as a mix of evening and weekend hours.

About these position types:

These positions are limited duration (temporary), non-benefit earning positions expected to last up to six months.
These positions are internally classified as Case Management Assistants.

In these positions, you will:
  • Work with clients experiencing homelessness who may have mental health and/or substance use disorders.
  • Interact with clients face-to-face; welcoming them at entrance, providing orientation to the space, answering questions, assisting with maintenance requests, delivering meals, communicating expectations and providing resources.
  • Maintain staff desk and room.
  • Work with colleagues and security to provide a safe and secure environment.
  • Document all shift activities.

Need to have:
  • One of the following:
    • Two years or more of responsible, paid social service experience providing direct client service.
    • A two-year human services certificate.
    • Two years or more of college coursework in the behavioral sciences.
Nice to have:
  • Experience:
    • Working directly with individuals experiencing homelessness.
    • Working in a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and strong time management skills.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to work effectively and communicate with individuals from a variety of cultural and lifestyle backgrounds in a respectful and non-judgmental manner.
  • Ability to:
    • Work effectively with external and internal partners.
    • Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • Knowledge of community resources and social services available to clients.

Candidates with fluency in another language(s) in addition to English are encouraged to apply. Bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties.
