Job description

These positions will be performed on-site at various community sites within Hennepin County. Staff are needed to work anywhere from a few shifts a week up to 40 hours per week. Shifts include Sundays through Thursdays from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m., Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. as well as a mix of evening and weekend hours.

These positions are limited duration (temporary), non-benefit earning positions expected to last up to six months.

In these positions, you will:
- Work with clients experiencing homelessness who may have mental health and/or substance use disorders.
- Interact with clients face-to-face; welcoming them at entrance, providing orientation to the space, answering questions, assisting with maintenance requests, delivering meals, communicating expectations and providing resources.
- Maintain staff desk and room.
- Work with colleagues and security to provide a safe and secure environment.
- Document all shift activities.
Need to have:
- One of the following:
- Two years or more of responsible, paid social service experience providing direct client service.
- A two-year human services certificate.
- Two years or more of college coursework in the behavioral sciences.
- Experience:
- Working directly with individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Working in a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and strong time management skills.
- Strong people skills and the ability to work effectively and communicate with individuals from a variety of cultural and lifestyle backgrounds in a respectful and non-judgmental manner.
- Ability to:
- Work effectively with external and internal partners.
- Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
- Knowledge of community resources and social services available to clients.
Candidates with fluency in another language(s) in addition to English are encouraged to apply. Bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties.
