CASA & CASA IN ACTION SYNOPSIS:
CASA’s mission is to create a more just society by building power and improving the quality of life in working class and immigrant communities. CASA has a sister organization, CASA in Action, a separate, but related, nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c) (4) of the Internal Revenue Code. CASA and CASA in Action share a common goal of supporting immigrant and working class people in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Virginia, and throughout the country. They are separate organizations with their own boards of directors. A set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between the two organizations. This has no effect on salary or benefits.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The CASA Fundamentals Training Manager will design and implement a popular education curriculum for CASA members, staff, boards, volunteers, and allies in both Spanish and English. S/he will work with the Director of Community Leadership, the Sr. Director of Membership, and the Chief of Organizing to design both general training content as well as specific content for each group, including for use in person, on paper, and via digital media. All content and materials should exemplify and explain CASA’s mission, vision, and values, and actively demonstrate our organizational commitment to antiracism, gender equity, and anti-imperialism. The CASA Fundamentals Training Manager will also work to develop materials to document CASA’s history, theory of change, and ideology. The CASA Fundamentals Training Manager will also work with the Human Resources department and with the Sr. Membership manager to conduct training for all new staff, members, Leadership Council, and Boards. S/he may also support other popular education training including racial justice, gender equity, climate justice, and other coalition and campaign work as part of a multidisciplinary campaign team.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, some of the following, which are discussed and prioritized by the employee and supervisor, and reflected in individual and program annual work plans:
Develop and maintain a foundational curriculum designed to ground multiple audiences in CASA’s unique mission, vision, values, ideology, and theory of change using popular education methodology.- Facilitate ongoing train the trainer sessions to ensure that key CASA staff, member leaders, and board members are grounded in common language and ideology regarding CASA’s organizational history and theory of change, and are able to demonstrate these values in peer training and external communications.
- Develop training materials in support of CASA’s membership recruitment efforts at the local, state, and national levels, in collaboration with CASA’s Sr. Director of Membership and Membership Field Manager.
- Develop and implement written and digital materials to document and train CASA members, staff, and boards on CASA’s organizational history, expansion, and theory of change, rooted in our core ideology and membership.
- Develop additional informational materials to support democracy and other ongoing campaigns in collaboration with organizing, communications, and policy team members.
- Work with a data and evaluation team to create an evaluation instrument to track and measure intended outcomes and impact of all training programs.
- Support Director of Community Leadership and Chief of Organizing in creation and implementation of broader political education and campaign materials to support existing or new organizing campaigns and issue priorities.
- Track, analyze and synthesize outcomes of leadership development program
- Support outreach and logistics for both internal and external trainings including member trainings, train the trainer workshops, partner convening’s, and web-based or video trainings
- Ensuring program and grant deliverables are collected and reported upon accurately and in a timely manner
- Supervise staff, personnel, volunteers and consultants; ensuring that professional development opportunities are provided and all HR policies are followed
- Development and maintenance of relationships with key national, state, and local partners, including mentor relationships with CASA partners in other states.

EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
Minimum of two years of experience in community organizing, popular education, and/or leadership development in working class and/or immigrant communities.- Valid US driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Deep knowledge of CASA’s history and theory of change.- Commitment to building power through grassroots membership recruitment and leadership development.
- Deep commitment to Antiracism and Gender Equity.
- Familiarity with pedagogical theory and curriculum design
- Experience in facilitating in person and digital trainings
- Deep knowledge of the organizing, policy and social justice culture and landscape
- Cultural agility and experience with grounding work in an anti-oppressive lens
- Large scale event planning experience is a plus
- Experience supervising individuals and/or teams;
- Excellent writing and speaking skills in English and Spanish required, additional languages a plus.
- Must be efficient at communicating effectively orally and in writing; establishing cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple ongoing projects;
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends;
- Willing to travel regularly to support CASA teams in MD, VA, PA, GA, and other states, as well as occasionally to support external partners
