This iconic property originally opened in 1927 as one of the first Ritz-Carlton hotels in the U.S. and most recently was the Taj Boston. The building will be thoughtfully transformed into a 286-room luxury hotel with 16,000-sq-ft of stunning event spaces, signature dining experiences and a reimagined front entrance on Newbury Street.

Overview:
The Carpenter is responsible for Repair, maintain and construct wood structures such as partitions, doors, furniture and similar items throughout the hotel. The Carpenter is to provide the highest quality service working in an efficient and thoughtful manner. At all times the highest level of service standards is to be adhered to.
Responsibilities:
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding and claryfing in order to resolve situations
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines and/or priorities
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Attend all department and/or hotel trainings
- Is willing and able to step outside of normal responsibilities to assist others
- Strives to continuously improve job skills and knowledge
- Attention to detail…ensure that work is accurate, thorough and to the standards of Excellence
- Take responsibility…demonstrates personal ownership of tasks and follows through to achieve desired results
- At least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related building environment
- 2 plus years of Building Carpentry experience
- Ability to access high areas using a ladder
- Vocational/technical training or apprentiship
- Ability to communicate in English with hotel guests, visitors and staff to their understanding.
- High school graduate or G.E.D.
- Trade school or apprenticeship in carpentry and/or construction.
- Extended periods of standing, walking, climbing stairs, crouching/kneeling, bending and twisting
- Carrying/lifting up to 50lbs
- Repetitive motion
- Talking/communicating/listening
