Position: Carpenter, Building Maintenance

Duties and Responsibilities:

Looking for a generalist Carpenter who is skilled in all applicable trades. Performs a wide variety of maintenance work on property involving carpentry, including, but not limited to building siding repairs, walls, beams, support posts, decks, windows, doors, shelving and signage, caulking, touchup painting, installation of framing and wallboard. Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled.

Informing the foreman of needed repairs when noticed and incorporate into work plans. Maintains carpentry equipment and tools; other duties as assigned falling within the purview of the carpentry manager.

This is a union position with full medical & retirement benefits through Laborer's Local 324 AFL-CIO.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, performs carpenter duties including and not limited to:

• Performs exterior maintenance and repairs for buildings and building systems as directed to required quality and timeliness standards.
• Performs maintenance and repairs for doors, walls, fences, gates, and decks to required quality and timeliness standards. Working with sheet metal, a plus.
• Completes required paperwork as required in timely fashion.

· Foreman: Oversees work of assigned crew, providing coaching, instruction and demonstration of desired techniques; holds daily tailgate/round-up meetings covering daily assignments, safety training, other information as required; reviews time cards for accuracy and completeness; respond appropriately in emergency situations; maintain calm demeanor in any situation; manage and procure materials and complete work orders to GRF standards of timeliness and completeness performs other duties as requested falling with the purview of the Building Maintenance Manager.

Requirements:

• 3 years minimum residential carpentry experience;
• High School diploma or GED and demonstrated ability to read/write business English;
• Fluent in English. Spanish language, a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to properly use carpentry hand and power tools;
• Ability to learn and apply Foundation and department policies and procedures and industry standards.
• Very safety conscious and calm in any situation;
• Must be a true team player and have the ability to interact appropriately with senior residents, visitors, and guests.
• Demonstrable high skills in customer service, priority and time management.

Foreman: excellent customer service, leadership, and teamwork skills and advanced carpentry skills.

• Prior foreman experience preferred.

Additional Requirements:

§ Clean and valid California driver license and satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment.

§ Ability to meet the Dept. of Homeland Security requirements confirming identity and right to work in the United States is required.

§ Offer is contingent upon satisfactorily passing pre-employment physical, drug test and physical capabilities assessment.

§ Previous employment must be verifiable.

§ This is a union position (Laborer’s Local 324 AFL-CIO).

Pay: From $25.89 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• On call
