Position Summary: Goodwill's Vocational School provides case management, training, and support to the students of our classes. We strive to offer training that meets the needs of the local labor market, providing feedback, individual employment planning, and access to industry recognized skills. Our programs strive to prepare and assist individuals with barriers to employment and disadvantages for educational attainment and for jobs that lead towards career development.

The Career Readiness Training Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and delivery of the Career Readiness, Education, and Development (CRED) training program at the Milgard Work Opportunity Center (MWOC). The CRED program is in-person and online through Goodwill's Digital Work Opportunity Center (DWOC). Duties include recruitment, enrollment, coordination of services, and oversight of provisions of services to students of the CRED training program. This position ensures that students receive assessments, educational and resource navigation support, career goal development, connections to appropriate community resources and, ongoing referral and support. This position provides primary program coordination, instructional training at Goodwill and partner sites.

Salary: $22.00 - $25.00 Per Hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: TheCareer Readiness Training CoordinatorresponsibilitiesIncludes the following and other duties as assigned:

  • Coordinate the CRED train-the-trainer, training assistant, volunteer and intern program opportunities and the management of the program development efforts.
  • Recruit students for enrollment into Goodwill programs; refer students to needed services and follow up to ensure connection.
  • Research and develop the supplies and process necessary to conduct effective offsite CRED training through the creation of Goodwill Mobile Classroom.
  • Educate students about the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program as well as other community resources available.
  • Review and become familiar with Goodwill Vocational School's curriculum and training processes, and be able to effectively lead Career Readiness training to diverse groups.
  • Maintain connections and interact in a positive manner with local district school staff, intervention specialists, truancy, juvenile justice and students, as well as employers and community partners

Build and Maintain Working Relationships

Research and develop relationships with other Goodwill training sites and community organizations to support the expansion of Goodwill's mission and strategic initiatives through Career Readiness training; be the point of contact for the program's region.

Provide Full Cycle Support for Program Students

Guide students through the program intake process, create plans that support the goal of acquiring employment, and maintain contact with student to ensure they are succeeding in the workforce.

Manage Program Budget and Reporting

Coordinate the CRED program, grant and contract budget spending, service delivery, and reporting as assigned; maintain accurate, detailed records and reports, and case notes (Caseworthy), and other relevant databases.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associates Degree and/or equivalent experience desired
  • Demonstrate leadership to develop and deliver effective training and/or community services
  • Detail oriented, able to anticipate, plan and organize obligations and job duties Experience in training, assisting job seekers/students in attaining educational goals and work skills
  • Exceptional analytical, judgment, decision-making and communications skills
  • Superior coaching, leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build understanding
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment as well as working with little supervision.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position may directly supervise a program assistant, volunteers and/or student interns. In addition, position will train and then supervise the training delivery of other Goodwill and partner sites utilizing the CRED training program.

Cultural Competency:Demonstrate cultural competence; specifically, awareness, attitude, knowledge, willingness and skills to work effectively with a culturally and demographically diverse population. An ability to gain rapport and relate in a sensitive manner with youth and adults with a multi-racial and multi-cultural background.

Language Skills:Ability to read and interpret hard data and metrics. Ability to write creatively and articulately with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and average.

Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel and PowerPoint.

Other Skills and Abilities:Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of effective training, community engagement and career readiness.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Washington State Driver's License, reliable transportation, and proof of vehicle insurance required.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear and type. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
