POSITION SUMMARY
Carmen seeks a motivated, organized, and enthusiastic Career Readiness Coordinator for our Northwest Campus—a mission critical role to our students' success in graduating prepared for success in college and family sustaining careers. The Career Readiness Coordinator collaborates with the College and Career teams to plan and implement career exploration and readiness programs network wide, leading these efforts at the Northwest High School and Middle School campus. This includes career exploration, career readiness programming, student internship and apprenticeship programs, career technical education pathways (including our certified nursing assistant program), industry partnerships, and other relevant partnerships and programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse and demanding student and parent population
- Sensitivity, openness, and approachability; ability to see and celebrate potential in every student
- Ability to work well in a team and to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, advisors, and staff
- Exceptional organizational ability and confidence performing well under pressure to meet deadlines
- Entrepreneurial mindset and desire to take initiative in efforts to advocate for and provide students with unique learning experiences and opportunities
- Passion for building community partnerships to provide opportunities for students to discover their passions, explore careers, and begin preparation for success after high school
- Experience with charter or charter like schools and/or with students in low-income environments, preferred
- Belief and commitment to our mission, being a change agent, and a growth mindset that all students are capable of getting to and through college
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Familiarity with career technical programs, preferred
- Experienced in Google platforms and Microsoft Office, preferred
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a resource for students, parents, and faculty regarding career readiness planning and programming
- Assist with the application and enrollment process for the Student Internship Program; technical education coursework, certification and apprenticeships, and the Certified Nursing Assistant Program
- Coordinate with the Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship program
- Develop, facilitate, and implement career seminars for students
- Provide training and resources for teachers and advisors to deliver work readiness curriculum
- Assist the Director of Career Readiness with researching, evaluating, and obtaining career related opportunities available to eligible students
- Work with outside businesses and nonprofits to set position requirements and schedules for students
- Administer the Student Internship Program scholarships, coordinating with the Post-Transition (Alumni) Coordinator and Director of Career Programs and Partnerships
- Track and report qualitative and quantitative program data for student feedback, program analysis and external development
- Coordinate and implement external career-related curriculum as needed
- Recruit for and support student attendance at a wide variety of pre-college/career readiness programs
- Recruit and chaperone students to participate in career exploration opportunities (e.g., job shadowing and company tours)
- Occasional evening and weekend work is required - must be able to provide own transportation throughout Milwaukee County
