SUMMARY
The General Education curriculum contains an experiential education requirement for all undergraduate students. To support this requirement, The Office of Career Services assists with the development and coordination of internships, service learning, and undergraduate research experiences. The Career Advisor will act as an ambassador for student participation in experiential learning as a critical element of their holistic academic experience by developing and coordinating high-quality internship and experiential learning opportunities for students in the Undergraduate College. Primary responsibilities include advising students, internship development and coordination, faculty and employer relations, presentations, and program management.
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE*
- Build upon an established system of best practices for experiential learning and manage a comprehensive internship program with an emphasis on equitable access and expanding student participation in quality internships and experiential learning experiences.
- Collaborate with campus partners to implement strategies that advance the college's emphasis on student participation in experiential learning as a critical component of the overall academic experience and process of bridging theory to practice;
- Manage full life-cycle of internship programs, including marketing of opportunities, and preparation, application and evaluation of program participants.
- Prepare, coach, and advise students regarding all phases of internship preparation including assistance with internship search, resume/cover letter writing, and interview preparation.
- Assist students with identifying and applying to appropriate internship experiences; monitor their progress throughout the internship.
- Make presentations to classes, student groups, parent orientations, etc. to promote Internship Program and provide professional development opportunities.
- Work with the Assistant Director to collect, analyze and prepare internship statistics and assessments, as required.
- All other related duties at the direction of the Director of Career Services.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Higher Education experience Preferred
- Related experience in an administrative position within Career Services or department of like with emphasis in internship, experiential learning, study abroad, etc.
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent written communication skills
- Demonstrated supervisory and team-building skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
