Minimum Requirements

• RCVT/RCVIS certification preferred.
• Graduate of 2-year program or attended specialized training programs by the manufacturer. Has kept current by attending at least one advanced course every 2-3 years, preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an acute care setting, surgical setting, and/or one year experience in the Cath lab.
• Current and valid BLS and ACLS Certification.
• Computer skills preferred.

Position Summary

The Cardiovascular Tech assists/scrubs in with cardiac catheterizations, invasive peripheral angiograms, coronary and peripheral interventions, electrophysiology evaluations, ablations, pacemaker implants, and ICD procedures. Ensures procedure room is adequately prepared for the procedure. Monitors PAR level of all instruments and supplies. Participates in departmental staff meeting and performance improvement activities. Able to assist RN with stress tests and in the cardiovascular post-procedure recovery area when needed.

Position Responsibilities

• Practice, endorse and provide customer service skills to patients, family, physicians, and other hospital staff.
• Monitor and document information regarding patient procedures as directed by the RN.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary in preparing patients for procedures.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary in correct positioning of electrodes for each procedure.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to place R2 pads/monitoring pads appropriately.
• Assist physician and RN when performing Cardiac Catheterization Lab procedures.
• Organize Cath lab equipment in preparation of a procedure.
• Clean all equipment and procedure area post procedure prior to housekeeping cleaning.
• Assist in patient preparation for invasive, interventional procedures.
• All other duties as assigned.
