Job description
Killington Parks and Recreation is seeking a Camp Director for the 2023 summer camp season. The Camp Director will report to the Recreation Director to create and execute a successful camp experience for Camp Loads of Fun, Green Mountain Movers, and specialty camps. Counselors will report directly to the Camp Director. The Camp Director will manage certain administrative tasks allowing for a streamlined camp experience.
This position requires approximately half of the day on administrative tasks, and half of the day with campers and counselors. The Camp Director can use creativity to shape the overall camp experience for children if so desired! This is an exciting and dynamic position.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure camp is a safe and fun environment by monitoring safety protocols and procedures.
2. Prepare for a successful day at camp by gathering supplies and preparing activities. A list of theme weeks and activities is provided; however, the Camp Director can modify and adapt these as needed or desired.
3. Build rapport with parents. Send and respond to emails in timely manner.
4. Process camp registrations, payments, and refunds.
5. Understand, explain, and uphold camp rules and regulations.
6. Hear parent feedback and share with Recreation Director.
7. Always maintain awareness of the location of campers and camp groups.
8. Schedule camp trip and coodrinate logistics, such as hiring a school bus, or connecting with subcontractors.
9. Cover counselor lunches if needed.
Supervisory Duties
1. Maintain staff schedule.
2. Manage counselors, providing feedback and support as needed.
3. Adhere to and enforce all camp rules and regulations.
4. Handle record keeping (attendance, timesheets, etc).
5. Enforce camp rules.
6. Help train counselors.
7. Work with Recreation Director to hold weekly staff debriefings.
Qualifications
· Experience working with school age children.
· CPR/First aid certified preferred, but not required.
· Ability to learn recreation management software with provided training
· Good written and verbal communicator who works well with others.
· Adaptable to changes during the summer months due to weather and/or staffing.
· Ability to be outdoors, on feet most of the day and walk distances between recreation facilities.
· Dependable with a reliable mode of transportation.

Hours
Seasonal, full-time, day camp
The workday is from approximately 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Camp is from June 26 through August 18.
The Recreation Director and the Camp Director will meet remotely prior to the start of camp to prepare for the summer.
There will be mandatory training for CPR/First Aid certification, and counselor orientation. Exact dates TBA.
