30 Hours Per Week - Monday through Friday Afternoon to Evening

Rate of Pay: $14.75/hr. Plus Free YMCA Membership

Under the direction of the Camp Ranger, the Camp Custodian will provide exceptional support to Camp Eastside. Focus on regular maintenance of lawn, plant life and any all other areas of camp. Assist with the regular organization and care of tools, vehicles and various supplies. Greets everyone by using names whenever possible; extends thanks whenever appropriate; makes relationship building the number one priority at all times. The position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester are conveyed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lawn care tasks including mowing, trimming, and weeding.
• Other additional landscaping tasks as needed.
• Proper and safe operation of all equipment.
• Reports any damage or needed repairs to equipment, property, etc. to supervisor.
• Interacts with staff, members, and general public in a professional and courteous manner.
• Assists in special projects at camp as needed.
• Responds to emergencies appropriately in accordance to his/her level of training and circumstances.
• All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• The candidate must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.
• This position requires a highly organized, professional, enthusiastic self-starter with strong, proven outdoor landscaping skills.
• Excellent time management and work ethic needed.
• Must organized and have high attention to detail.
• Experience utilizing a variety of landscape tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to remain standing and moving for extended periods of time including walking within 30 acres of camp.
• Work indoors and outdoors in normal environment with some exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations and temperature changes
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally.
• Must be able to bend and stoop.
