PURPOSE: The role of a Cafe Manager is to ensure the operational needs of the cafe are met, while also supporting, and providing leadership to the team members of the cafe. The Cafe Manager enjoys working in a fast-paced café environment, and can effectively work under pressure. In this role, they will work with, and develop a team to provide the exceptional customer service and quality experience that Love & Light Cafe has built its reputation on. The Cafe Manager possesses a high sense of responsibility, quality, ethics, and integrity.
AREAS OF IMPACT: Leadership Budget Management
LEADERSHIP: Provide leadership by being self-motivated and knowing when to take action. Identify interpersonal problems among staff and provide opportunities to work to resolve them. Influence others to achieve individual and team objectives. Utilize strong leadership skills to ensure effective direction, facilitation, communication, and cooperation within the cafe. Assist in the professional development of staff from new hires to Lead Baristas. Work with the HR team to recruit and develop staff team members.
OPERATIONS: Approaches work objectives with a sense of urgency and passion, and a dedication to exceeding performance expectations. Maintain clear communication on issues related to operations. Introduce new products and procedures to the cafe as needed, and troubleshoot any problems that arise. Work with baristas to understand and define coffees in simple terms to improve knowledge base and customer interaction/experience.
QUALITY CONTROL: Scheduling regular cuppings with baristas and head trainer to help promote general coffee knowledge. Stay up to date with knowledge of all seasonal offerings currently available. Work to achieve quality control from a technical perspective (brewing devices, water quality, TDS measurements, etc.
BUDGET MANAGEMENT: Work with POS system, submit sales excels to owner, and review weekly sales with the management team. Work to achieve quarterly sales goals. Develop and maintain a work schedule that is efficient and cost-effective. Approve timesheets for payroll. Review budget and sales data and make fiscal and/or inventory adjustments as needed.
Qualifications
- 2 years in Coffee: preferred, not required.
- Food Service : 3 years of food service experience.
- Years in Mgmt: 2 years min.
- People skills: Dealing with the public and team proactively, professionally, and positively.
- Ownership: Takes initiative, personally drives & takes pride in the business. 1-3 years experience as a unit manager for high-quality food service or retail provider with a focus on coffee.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
