The CAD Designer/PLM Administrator will Work under the direction of the Engineering Director to perform detail design/ drafting functions. The CAD Designer/PLM Administrator supports business tools by collaborating with teams working with PLM/PDM systems, MCAD/ECAD tools, change workflows, and product documentation. Additionally, this functional role requires an in-depth understanding of discrete manufacturing business process, engineering product definition, Bill of Material (BOM) configuration management and change control business systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support NPD, adhering to all requirements of the Stage Gate process, Technical Documentation (2D, 3D, electronic, etc.), ensuring design outputs adhere to relevant internal & external standards including appropriate system linkages.
  • Administer PLM (PRO.FILE) system and data management system including ERP Engineering work flow, Model libraries, CAD, PLM/PDM ensuring information control, standardization, accuracy & efficiency.
  • Supports the technology and product design aspects of the new product introduction process to contribute to a commercially successful product launch.
  • Develop and maintain Quality Control documentation and procedures.
  • Collaborates with Sales, Marketing and Operations on product lifecycle management.
  • Create component /assembly detailed drawings in 2D and 3D using SolidWorks.
  • Follow Drawing Change procedures: Review submitted changes for validity.
  • Prepare drafting packages and ensure the drawings meet Proper drafting standards and company drawing requirements.
  • Review drawings created by other engineers for accuracy when required.
  • Assign part numbers for new components, new assemblies and manage workflow in PLM system. Create parts lists to be entered into the ERP/MRP system.
  • Works with Engineering and Operations to assure that designs are manufacturable.
  • Must be able to work quietly and independently with minimal supervision following given procedures and directions. Perform other duties as required by the engineering department.

MUST HAVES:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of two (2) year Technical / Drafting education with more than 5 years of Design/Drafting experience.
  • Effective communicator, makes commitments and delivers on promises.
  • Proficient in all aspects of CAD including 3D solids modeling using SolidWorks. Experienced in plastic part design for injection molding.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Epicor ERP system.
  • Formal education in ISO9001 quality control or equivalent.
  • Experience with SolidWorks 3D modeling software or equivalent and understanding GD&T, ANSI/ASME standards.
  • Strong Product Knowledge and understanding of engineering release workflows.
  • The ability to make effective, timely decisions by sourcing and analyzing critical information.
  • Willing and able to identify and support change and continuous improvement in own and wider business environment.
  • Relies on experience, analytical capacity, problem solving skills/tools and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
