Job Title: Buyer, Wholesale
Type: Full- Time
Salary Range: $55,000 - 70,000
Location: Denver, CO


Position Objective:

This individual will provide leadership in strategic sourcing of cannabis flower, biomass, branded and MRO products for our wholesale manufacturing and distribution establishments and ensure that our supplier management programs deliver cost optimization to meet Schwazze’s operational requirements. This role reports to the Vice President of Manufacturing and Supply Chain and is expected to work cross-functionally with finance, marketing, data analytics and operations.


The Buyer will collaborate with a team of initiative-taking individuals and entrepreneurs with M&A, management consulting, change management, investment banking, and cannabis experience, and is expected to effectively manage individual workstreams and communicate recommendations to team members and senior leaders.


Responsibilities will include processing purchase orders, evaluating and negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, and consulting with inventory management teams. The Buyer will collaborate with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand. The Buyer should be analytically minded and possess excellent negotiating skills to secure the best prices to maximize EBITDA.


Essential Functions:


  • Responsible for all day to day purchasing process while managing the inventory expectations of the businesses.
  • Actively collaborate with internal key stakeholders to ensure that strategic sourcing and supplier management is aligned with operational model priorities and requirements.
  • Deliver EBITDA cost savings to the organization appropriate to associated category expenditure.
  • Develop and maintain deep expertise in assigned categories through initiative-taking and on-going category management, e.g., Market dynamics, supplier profiles, etc.
  • Develop and maintain deep relationships with local suppliers and actively seek out building relationships with new vendors.
  • Support and monitor facility inventory levels and work directly with operators on implementing an inventory management process.
  • Lead the development and execution of category strategies including market assessment, supplier assessment, supplier segmentation, risk assessment, and strategic category objectives.
  • Lead the establishment of category Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for assigned categories and track performance using available data sources in coordination with Synergy Office and Integration Team
  • Actively manage and influence supplier continuous improvement by sourcing the highest quality products
  • Understand our business, our suppliers, and our shareholder expectations to drive value and business results through innovation.
  • Support the creation of a vision and long-term roadmap for overall company procurement.


Specific Job Skills and Experience

  • Experience on teams undertaking large-scale business transformations with tangible impact on operating/financial performance.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Deep knowledge of cannabis products
  • Procurement strategy, retail operations, and/or CPG experience a plus
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Experience with managing P&Ls and overseeing organizational budgets.
  • Must possess a Support badge issued by the Marijuana Enforcement Division or have an appointment to get one.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Undergraduate bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or related working experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort with a challenging environment and the ability to adapt to change quickly.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management.

Working Conditions (Schedule, Environment, Travel)

  • Schedule will Vary Depending on the needs of the business (Nights, Weekends, Holidays included.
  • Travel from 50-60% of total time
