Job description
The Buyer is responsible for developing relationships and negotiating with suppliers to obtain products, quotes, prices, specifications, availability and delivery schedules. Maintain procurement specific information with the ERP system to drive consistency and real time data. Assist in developing strategies to reduce overall cost structure for responsible product category.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner.
- Acquires and maintains technical understanding of products purchased. Performs cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities.
- Ensure incoming raw materials, packaging and supplies are ordered and received to meet production schedules.
- Interact with vendors and internal departments for order status, production scheduling, purchasing procedures and problem resolution.
- Update pricing in system with pricing confirmations.
- Verify delivery of suppliers and pick up locations of materials or packaging.
- Generate and maintain vendor contact list and specification.
- Negotiate pricing, establishing payment terms, increasing credit, and day-to-day corresponding via e-mail and telephone.
- Identify and resolve supplier quality and delivery problems
- Issue and create Purchase Orders, receive acknowledgements from Suppliers.
- Work closely with all internal customers including production planning and production control to stay informed of changes in manufacturing schedules.
Qualifications: * Strong working knowledge of inventory control and manufacturing procedures.
- Familiarity with and ability to operate general office equipment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- 2 years purchasing experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
