Job Summary: Oversee industry leading procurement of raw materials and pursue cost analysis, negotiation, and development programs with vendors. Develop department procedures with the goal of maintaining customer and production schedules, while ensuring best-in-class price, quality, & customer service.

Major Responsibilities

  • Issue and track purchase orders to ensure manufacturing facilities have all necessary components when needed for uninterrupted and timely production.
  • Communicate updates/changes to the manufacturing facilities regarding component deliveries.
  • Research/create purchasing reporting in IQMS system for Material Exception (ordering), Open Orders, and other reporting necessary to improve efficiencies.
  • Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files & reports. Update IQMS as needed for correct pricing, lead-times, and supplier information.
  • Negotiate with current and potential suppliers to ensure the best-in-class price, quality, and service.
  • Track and report costs savings for components, colorant, and any other items as they arise and report to management on a quarterly basis.
  • Develop Vendor Assessment Plan and perform quarterly reviews. Provide update to management for progress and address any concerns as necessary.
  • Develop Requisition to Purchase Order process in IQMS with necessary approvals levels by department, category, and cost.
  • Assist with negotiation of contracts and service agreements as required.
  • Regularly submit RFQ’s to potential suppliers for raw materials and finished goods as required to ensure preservation of best in class pricing, materials, quality, and customer service.
  • Issue requests for packaging and artwork, track timelines, and coordinate with Creative Services and vendors.
  • Maintain a purchasing plan for colorant suppliers, negotiated costs and tracking of all approved, and proposed colorant requests.
  • Submit and track requests for new color chips and sample pails of colorant. Track approved color chips, update, and maintain various schedules, and coordinate with internal departments and molders.
  • Maintain and update current supplier information as needed. Regularly research and maintain lists potential domestic suppliers to be used for future RFQ’s.
  • Develop and implement purchasing standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Reduce inventory where possible to ensure optimal levels on hand.
  • Maintain and communicate on Time Delivery Performance to key suppliers.
  • Work with Sustainability Task Team to research and implement best in class environmental processes.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required OR 5-8 yrs Purchasing Experience.
  • Ability to multitask, organize and prioritize.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office; Word, Excel and Microsoft Dynamics.

Physical Demands

  • Long periods of work that primarily involves sitting
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds
