We are seeking a Business Operations & Strategy Analyst to join a team of high paced team of business developers, marketers, product managers, and engineers (like a small startup) to test and scale a new technology-focused business line and distribution channel that seeks to meaningfully improve Spotify's gross margin. We in Spotify’s Backstage team are looking for a strong operator to help scale a new commercial model from an already successful open source project.
Responsibilities in this role will vary frequently. We all wear multiple hats and it's likely your role will span working across legal, finance, business development, and product. We’re seeking someone who is data-obsessed and can identify strategic initiatives that will create meaningful efficiencies across the business.
What You'll Do
- Work with cross-functional teams (legal, finance, business development, marketing) to set up, maintain and scale business tools and processes to manage the sales and customer lifecycle; identify areas of improvement for existing processes
- Support business development in evaluating open-source and commercial partnership opportunities based on third-party research and strategic analysis
- Build out pricing model scenarios to support the launch of our commercial software offerings
- Own short and long-term forecasting, plus quarterly reporting of revenue for Backstage
- Partner with product, engineering, and data insights partners to develop product metrics and funnel tracking as a core input to inform our product development strategy; own communication and analysis of insights to the broader organization
- Lead competitive analysis, evaluate industry trends, and communicate insights to internal product teams to help inform product positioning
Who You Are
- Ideal candidates have 2+ years of experience in strategy consulting, technology, finance and/or high-growth startups (preferably with SaaS business models)
- Passion about Backstage and/or commercializing open source software
- Strong product sensibility, and comfort with considering basic technical feasibility of Backstage integrations
- Track record of creating foundational processes to help businesses scale
- Ability to work in an ambiguous environment with ever-changing priorities
- Experience working in financial business modeling or data analysis is a plus
