JOB SUMMARY:
The Business Operations Manager maintains a leadership role in the management of departmental operations, projects, and systems. Collaborates with Directors and Managers to ensure effective utilization of resources. Focuses on the support and infrastructure needed to achieve the goals and objectives of the staffing office. Responsible for reporting the performance of initiatives and departmental programs. Facilitates interdepartmental initiatives with Finance, Human Resources, IT, Clinical Operations, Quality, and Corporate Contracting. Has responsibility for the supervision of financial, operational, and/or administrative staff within the staffing office.

- Consults with all levels of management regarding business operations and the attainment of organizational objectives. Ensures operational processes are based on sound business practices and are in compliance with SJMC policies, procedures, protocols and regulations.
- Develops short and long term recommendations for action plans for operational goals and objections to carry the organization through each accounting cycle. Evaluates how the recommended plan will affect policies, procedures, and standards of business operations. Reviews recommendations with leadership for approval.
- Assists in the implementation of action plans. Establishes monitoring and reporting for action plans. Analyzes departmental operations to determine when goals have been achieved. Identifies emerging trends and opportunities for improvement. Develops information on comparable operations in other organizations for benchmarking purposes, as necessary.
- Works closely and collaboratively with Senior Leadership, Directors and Department Managers to optimize the integration of data into the management of business and financial operations. Ensures the availability of financial and statistical information
- Researches and analyzes operational and financial issues. Presents information clearly and concisely and makes recommendations for how to resolve issues.
- Supports Directors and Managers in the oversight of Clinical Service budgets. Monitors and assures monthly financial performance to budget and performs variance reporting. Forecasts annual performance of revenue and expense. Determines fiscal requirements, prepares budgetary recommendations, and authorizes expenditures for the department.
- Supervises staffing and scheduling staff. Assesses performance levels by monitoring results and providing positive and constructive feedback. Recommends and/or initiates disciplinary actions, as needed. Establishes clear and concise work procedures and expectations.
- Creates financial budgets and projections, annual and multi-year. Develops financial reports for leadership. Assists in planning and coordination of resources for the program in order to be meet financial targets. Analyzes actual performance and discusses results. Makes recommendations to align expenses with the appropriate accounting cycle based on established policies and strategic plans.
- Prepares budgets and budget modifications and financial reports. Assists in budget management. Conducts comprehensive analysis of data, both quantitative and qualitative. Ensures data integrity and use of data to improve programmatic outcomes. Assists in the compilation of reports for presentation. Attends external reporting meetings as necessary.
- Assists in data collection for internal/external audits as well as conducting analysis and implementation of audit committee recommendations.

What You Need to Be Successful:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field or equivalent (Required)
- MBA, CPA or Master’s degree (Preferred)
- Seven years of progressively responsible work experience in health care administration, financial analysis, budgeting, reimbursement, accounting, auditing or the educational equivalent (Required)
- Healthcare-related finance background (Preferred)
- Experience supervising, monitoring daily work activities, evaluating, training and motivating the performance of subordinate technical, professional and clerical support staff.
