Overview
The Facilities Department is looking for a Building Maintenance Worker II to join our team!
Building Maintenance Workers perform work involving painting, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and electrical maintenance in the alteration, repair, and maintenance of County equipment, buildings, and grounds.
Responsibilities
Specifically, this position:
- Inspects and ensures that all lights, fixtures, ballasts and wiring, breaker boxes, and electrical switches and controls are in working order; makes any necessary repairs.
- Inspects heating and air conditioning systems and related equipment for proper functioning; performs related maintenance tasks as required.
- Assists in a variety of carpentry and building tasks for County facilities.
- Repairs, installs, and constructs tables, shelves, cabinets, countertops, and other wood equipment and fixtures.
- Performs hand and bench work, operating planers, drill presses, power saws, and other woodworking machinery.
- Makes repairs on doors, windows, floors, lockers, gates, roofs, and ceilings.
- Prepares surfaces for painting, staining, or retexturing.
- Applies paint to building interiors, fixtures, equipment, or exteriors; strips and paints or stains cabinets, doors, and woodwork.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs plumbing systems and a variety of plumbing fixtures such as faucets, sinks, toilets, and water heaters.

We are looking for a candidate that will:
- Use routine software and business application including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Read and comprehend department and County rules, regulations, policies and standard operating procedures.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.
- Use safe work practices and safely operate a variety of hand and power tools.
- Learn to use the required tools and equipment accurately and safely.
- Read and understand blueprints, construction drawings, and schematics.
- Use the methods, materials, tools, and equipment inRough and finish carpentry and cabinet making.
General building maintenance work.
The painting trade.
Electrical work.
Plumbing work.
Qualifications
All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
- Two (2) years of experience as a Building Maintenance Worker I, or in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.

Supplemental Information
The typical schedule for this position is 7:30am - 4pm Monday to Friday.
An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
