The Bloomberg American Health Initiative is seeking a Budget Analyst to support the Bloomberg American Health Initiative's Financial Officer with tasks related to the administration, management, and oversight of the Bloomberg American Health Initiative's financial operations. This position reports directly to the Financial Officer, who coordinates the activities of the Budget Analyst.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for performing monthly reconciliation of Bloomberg American Health Initiative accounts, as well as monitoring and overseeing the reconciliation of funded projects
Develop and generate SAP/Business Warehouse financial reports to ensure compliance with departmental and university budgets, policies, and procedures
Assist, as-needed, with the development of annual department budget and re-projection for submission to the Divisional Business Office
Provide thorough analysis of financial data to assist with decision-making
Assist and review documentation for monthly expenses for Purchasing Card holders to ensure all charges have been reviewed before monthly deadlines
Provide administrative support for Student Information System entries, including postings of tuition support and other expenses and rectifying issues related to those entries
Assist in the review and submission of non-payroll and payroll cost transfers as-needed to assure correct expenses are charged to the appropriate accounts
Identify and assist with the resolution of procurement, contracts, payroll, payment and budget issues
Monitor expenditures through the budgetary period, including monitoring project end dates to ensure compliance of reporting requirements and expenditures during project period
Prepare and review statistical data reports on finances
Analyze and document business and finance processes and operations
Work as a liaison with stakeholders
Work with Financial Officer on updating any deficiencies in workflow processes
Perform various SAP and Business Warehouse functions that accompany the position's requirements
Provide guidance/training of these process to department as needed
Identifying issues in standard operating procedures for enhanced efficiencies, as well as updating standard operating procedures, under the supervision of the Financial Officer, on an as-needed basis
Communicate and work with other departments, including but not limited to Accounts Payable, Supply Chain, JHU departments, among others
Carry out other related duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or other related field required.
1 year of related progressively responsible experience.
Experience with SAP, Sharepoint, Business Warehouse, SIS.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*

  • JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Preferred Qualifications:
Three years of related administration and finance experience.
Financial and business analysis experience.
Knowledge of Johns Hopkins University financial policies, practices, and procedures.
Specific knowledge of SAP and Business Warehouse financial reporting.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of accounting and budgeting practices.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Highly detail-oriented individual.
Extensive experience working with various software application such as Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook).
Experience and proficiency in the use of SAP, Sharepoint, Business Warehouse, and SIS reporting.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to work and collaborate well with faculty, staff, students, and administration within Johns Hopkins University, as well as external contacts.
Ability to be flexible, prioritize work independently, and meet deadlines with accuracy.
Willing to work with internal and external contacts to coordinate and distribute information necessary to complete tasks involving multiple departments, staff members, and locations.
