POSITION SUMMARY
PFEP Engineer provides strategic and tactical support to Sourcing & Manufacturing by executing Plan for every part activities; such as: advanced part planning to support High Performance Product Development (HPPD), setting MOQ quantities, packaging options on both incoming and outgoing shipments, line side delivery and part presentation, and sustainability activities as it pertains to packaging from suppliers. Supplier development activities, work with all direct purchase suppliers on packaging solutions, including when applicable, returnable packaging, in order to eliminate wasted labor dealing with dunnage and reduce waste to landfill. Assist warehouse and plant on part location and max levels to best utilize space and reduce WIP and purchased inventory.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a consultative resource and collaborative partner to both customers and suppliers to ensure all needs and expectations are understood and addressed
- Handle tactical packaging issues with assigned suppliers
- Work with logistics, both internal and external to better plan shipments
- Respond to customer inquiries in a timely, accurate and consultative manner
- Collaborate with supplier quality team analysis and proactively provide insightful information to the Buyer’s desk plan and the commodity team
- Analyze and evaluate supplier PPM performance to ensure proper inventory levels
- Provide packaging solutions for new suppliers and new parts
- Support Manufacturing by performing and/or coordinating new part set up and storage locations and amounts
- Support warehouse on layout and new part set up and location
- Develop and sustain a comprehensive understanding of value streams for the entire facility and information on every part
- Analyze part volumes, size and dimensions to determine best storage solutions
- Excel in a cross-functional team environment with warehouse team, buyers, commodity managers, R&D Engineers & Manufacturing Engineers, and current-product site Supplier Quality engineers.
- Manage projects necessary to execute continuous improvement plans in accordance with the commodity strategy
- This position will require occasional day and/or overnight travel by auto or airplane, up to 20%.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated knowledge regarding data models and data mining
- High competency in Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Access
- Project management skills: training and demonstrated successful use of tools
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail ensuring records and data systems are current and accurate
- Experience working between various functional areas in a manufacturing environment
- Growing analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Requires excellent communication skills
- Beginner level skills and demonstrated proficiency requirements include:
- Supplier Development
- Continuous Improvement
- 2 + years experience in a manufacturing or warehousing environment
- Experience in creating and maintaining PFEP databases preferred
- Knowledge of ERP systems within manufacturing environments preferred
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations/Logistics Management or Business Administration with a specialization in Operations or Logistics preferred
- Lean six sigma Green or Black Belt certification with project experience is preferred
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to high sound levels, welding processes, moving forklifts, elevated loads, and close quarters. The successful candidate will demonstrate a safety mindset to other employees.
