Job Opening: Paint Technician I

Position Summary:

Develop and document painted component fixturing, prep, masking, and spraying processes at NYM operations. Qualify new paint colors, types, and painted part shapes as it related to new model year launch.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Aid in development of paint processes for new component design.
• Aid in development of paint prep and masking processes for new component design.
• Help complete the qualification of new painted parts within NYM operations.
• Help complete the qualification of new paint colors/types within NYM operations.
• Assist in the design of painted part fixturing
• Assist in the design of painted part material flow carts
• Advise and document allowed repaint processes and techniques.
• Perform audits and maintenance of paint mixture and spraying equipment as needed.
• Perform audits and testing on wash system as needed.
• Complete time studies of painted processes by component or areas of the boat
• Advise on preferred paint equipment per application and processes.
• Work overtime as needed to complete daily tasks or projects

Required and Preferred Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years working with liquid paint processes required.
• Basic computer, math, reading and measurement proficiency.
• Knowledge of engineering drawings and specifications preferred.
• Knowledge of 5S, Kaizen and LSS preferred.
• Ability to follow established safety processes to handle chemicals and equipment to paint aluminum.
• Ability to lead training of others.
• Detailed and organized.
• Self starter, team player with a good safety awareness.

Work Environment and Physical requirements:

• Regularly required to work at heights on platforms, lifting parts and pieces up to 50 lbs, traveling up and down stairs on a constant basis, sitting, squatting and bending in various awkward positions for certain lengths of time - including working overhead, traveling in and out of work areas, walking and being on your feet for a majority of the work day. Exposed to noise, dust, fumes and odors on a daily basis. Physical exertion is required. Requires standing, bending and twisting for a 10-hour shift. May be required to work in a non-air conditioned area. Vision protection, and steel-toed shoes are required. Hearing protection may be required.
