PRIMARY FUNCTION:The Business Services Representative reports to the Accounts Receivable Manager and is responsible for accurate billing of accounts to insurance carriers and timely follow up on unpaid/denied/underpaid patient accounts.
Critical duties include resolving all claim edits to ensure a “clean claim” is received by the insurance carrier in a timely manner as well as conducting follow up activity to resolve unpaid or underpaid balances.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Meets all standards of the Patient Satisfaction Initiative Criteria by respecting confidentiality and privacy; treating others with courtesy, dignity, and respect; as well as responding to customer concerns in a timely manner.
Processes claims and edits via the electronic and paper billing system to ensure third parties have received the information in a timely accurate fashion.
Reviews correspondence and takes appropriate action to expedite the resolution of outstanding receivables within established quality/time standards
Conducts and completes special billing/follow up projects as assigned.
Other duties as assigned
Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the iSCORE values of Jefferson.
EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Education includes High School Diploma or GED, Billing and/or coding certificate preferred
Knowledge of word, excel
Ability to manage time effectively
Excellent written and communication skills
Identifies and communicates possible system and billing problems to appropriate manager
