What you will be doing

This position is responsible for the leadership and functional expertise of employee retirement benefit plans. Ensures plans are administered in compliance with plan documents and applicable regulations. This role is responsible for the planning, documentation and execution of annual processes and projects using the department’s project and change methodologies. The Benefits Manager will implement and administer programs designed to keep employees informed about the benefit plans and any proposed changes. They will ensure that programs are current regarding trends, practices, compliance, and costs. This position will also have strong interaction with internal and external business partners.

The position can be based in any of our corporate or divisional offices.

Main responsibilities

  • Manages the 401(k) and non-qualified plan team members located in Boise.
  • Works with internal and external legal counsel to manage compliance to plan documents and applicable legal requirements.
  • Manages communication with eligible employees regarding plan provisions, rules and regulations and plan changes. Manage maintenance of complete and accurate plan records.
  • Oversees reconciliation and funding of weekly 401(k) and nonqualified payroll deductions.
  • Manages calculation and funding of all company match formulas.
  • Reviews labor agreement language to determine how union groups should/should not participate in company 401(k).
  • Responds to escalated participant inquiries.
  • Works with plan recordkeeper to manage annual IRS nondiscrimination testing.
  • Assists with Retirement Benefit Plans Committee meetings as needed; serves on the Retirement Benefit Plans Administrative Committee.
  • Reviews plan amendments prior to presenting to Retirement Benefits Plans Committee members for signature.
  • Manages internal and external plan audit(s).
  • Addresses/responds to issues/items forwarded via plan recordkeeper, i.e., beneficiary questions, death payouts, QDRO’s.
  • Special projects as required.

What we are searching for

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum six years of experience in retirement plan leadership, preferably with large companies
  • Minimum three years of experience managing employees.
  • Demonstrated project management experience on complex projects preferably in the benefits industry, complex technical project management experience or other related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of defined benefit, defined contribution, and non-qualified plans
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong knowledge of retirement plan regulations, including ERISA and 409A regulations
  • Highly effective written and oral communication skills
  • Strong financial, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong MS Office - Access, Excel and Word skills. MS Project experience desired.
  • Ability to work with Legal, Finance and the Executive team.
