PathPoint is seeking a full-time Lead Residential Counselor & Medical Facilitator for Phoenix House and Mountain House in Santa Barbara, CA 93101. The Lead Residential Counselor provides rehabilitation services and individualized support for adults with behavioral health disorders and functions as the primary counselor or co-counselor for assigned clients. The Lead also mentors Residential Counselors in the areas of Medi-Cal documentation, medication administration, and following company and program protocols.

This is a full-time position for 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday between 7:30am and 5:30pm.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Orders clients' medications, intakes new medications, tracks backup medications, and writes medication error reports; Requests PRN authorization; communicates with psychiatrist or primary care doctor for authorization for clients to self-determine their use of as-needed medications; counts, documents and drops off discontinued medications for destruction; sets up client medication and medication storage boxes.
  • Observes and facilitates clients taking medications as prescribed; documents medication monitoring; assists with medication administration training; in absence of Facility Administrator, completes weekly medication counts and error tracking.
  • Participates in potential client interviews and manages House Counselor assignments.
  • Completes Medi-Cal documentation without note reviewer oversight; completes Medi-Cal note review for assigned staff in compliance with County of Santa Barbara guidelines; assists with training staff on Medi-Cal documentation.
  • Participates in monthly Phoenix and Mountain House Leads Meeting; is a mentor to Residential Counselors.
  • Orders weekly grocery delivery and tracks food inventory for meal planning.
  • Provides supervision for the general health, safety, and social rehabilitation of clients; ensures that clients are present and accounted for and all client rights are being observed.
  • Works with assigned clients to develop, update, and coordinate the implementation of their Action Plans.
  • Provides ongoing assessment of clients' mental illness symptoms and responses to treatment; recognizes and is available to clients in psychiatric crisis or emotional distress; assists clients in developing appropriate coping, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills; provides counseling, emotional support, and symptom recognition and management.
  • Assists clients with matters related to benefits and healthcare, including applying for new benefits or services, scheduling medical appointments, and maintaining medical records.
  • Assists clients in learning household maintenance and performs moderate facility maintenance; functions as positive role model, promotes cooperation and harmony in communal living, and upholds and promotes the program philosophy in all duties performed.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Psychology or a related field and one year of experience in the mental health field; OR high school diploma/GED and at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to complete Medi-Cal documentation without note reviewer oversight
  • Ability to be a mentor and coach to other staff
  • Knowledge of CCL regulations preferred
  • Teamwork - able to balance team and individual responsibilities
  • Client-centered focus - able to assess services provided to ensure needs, goals and rights of clients are being observed
  • Professionalism - treats all with respect and works well under pressure
  • Judgement - able to make decisions and demonstrate sound and accurate judgements in a timely manner

Compensation: This is an hourly, non-exempt position starting at $24 per hour.
