Requirements:

Requires 60 hours of college credit

Must have specialized training and/or certification in mental health services or related field as required in order to meet requirements for billable services and/or adjunctive services, i.e. SOC training updates. Must complete the Module 1, CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens, and First Aid training portions of the specialized training and education curriculum provided by the ODMHSAS before beginning work with children and families, and must have successfully completed the entire training and education curriculum, including passing a final exam, within six (6) months of employment. Ability to communicate needs to others. Ability to establish working relationships with clinical, administrative, and support staff in order to develop professionalism and coordination within the team to maximize in-house agency services available. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with peers, clients and the public. Ability to effectively interact with staff, clients and administration and the community both in person and on the telephone. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality guidelines for interactions regarding client information. Ability to work well under pressure- meeting deadlines with efficiency and consistency while maintaining a balance between good physical and mental health and the job requirements. Exhibit the ability to effectively organize and plan field work schedule to best service and maximize the needs of clients. Must possess a current Oklahoma Driver’s License and reliable transportation. Must be able to climb stairs and access non-handicap accessible equipped residences. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage challenging behaviors and teach appropriate behavioral skills. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to identify strengths and needs of the youth. Must be able to demonstrate understanding of disabilities, including the effects of the disabilities on the child and the family, and community attitudes toward children with disabilities and their families. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to resolve conflict. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of disorders of childhood, including diagnosis commonly encountered by Behavioral Health Aides

Responsible to create a plan of success and course of action based on individual needs of a youth and/or family. Responsible to advocate for the youth in the agency setting, and with other agencies and organizations identified. Responsible to use personal judgment, to identify available options for agencies and organizations as appropriate to meet a particular youths needs. Responsible to evaluate situations using discretion and personal judgment to adopt an affective course of action, to delegate responsibilities, organize facts and present them effectively. Responsible to provide consultation and expert advice to management regarding youth plans and advocacy. Responsible to use discretion and independent judgment to interpret and implement policies regarding youth plans. All other duties as assigned.
