Using professional student services theories and concepts, performs a limited range of duties and responsibilities within a Student Life program. Works independently to provide information and interpretation of clearly defined policies, procedures and regulations. Receives direction regarding more complex issues and / or program(s). Identifies individual student needs for programs and services and advises on appropriate programs and resources. Under the supervision of the Director of the FRESH Basic Needs Hub, the Basic Needs Coordinator has the functional responsibility for the coordination and implementation of student basic need direct resources and economic crisis alleviation services. Oversees the student client intake survey and connects and refers students to appropriate staff and services. The coordinator develops and maintains relationships with campus partners and serves as the main liaison between campus social workers and financial aid counselors to the FRESH Basic Needs Hub to provide comprehensive, cohesive services, information, and programs to UCI students in the area of basic needs security. The coordinator manages communications and logistics for the Economic Crisis Response Grant and the Emergency Housing Program and facilitates signature programs to provide immediate food, housing, and crisis resolution resources. The coordinator. Communicates and supports students facing financial crisis and homelessness and works with campus partners to offer immediate resources. The coordinator supervises student staff, interns, and volunteers. The coordinator provides support in planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs, trainings, and informational sessions in collaboration with campus and community partners, and makes recommendations for new and existing programs
Compensation Range:
$48,500 - $58,000

Required:
Experience serving a diverse student’s population and providing basic needs resources
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Ability to multi-task, verbal communication, written communication and organization skills. Understanding of University rules and regulations. Effective interpersonal and communication skills to interact with a variety of staff, faculty, students, and off-campus vendors/agencies/community groups in a daily work environment Demonstrated ability to design and deliver basic needs support services and programs within a higher education environment Ability to effectively handle and complete several ongoing projects in a work environment characterized by frequent interruptions Experience working effectively with diverse student populations and communities Skills in service orientation, active listening, critical thinking. Knowledge of and commitment to diversity, social justice, and equity Ability to provide support, advocacy, crisis intervention and appropriate referral information, using discretion, confidentiality, and understanding of campus policy Interpersonal skills. Abilities in problem identification, reasoning. Skill in program organization, budget preparation, publicity, marketing and evaluation
Preferred:
Knowledge of University processes and procedures. Basic knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
