Bartender

Spare Me is seeking an individual with a passion for hospitality and customer service to serve as bartender for our bar program. This role will support the Beverage Director in daily operations. The selected candidate will be expected to elevate the Food and Beverage experience by maintaining established quality & consistency standards of our robust cocktail menu, balanced wine list, and craft beer offerings.

Job Summary
Responsible for the daily bar operations and service. Monitors inventory levels of all beverage and related products. Ensures that established internal controls are adhered to. Assists with efficient operation of all food and beverage operating areas within La Vecina.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Regular and consistent attendance
• Take orders from serving staff or directly from guests
• Prepare cocktails and other drinks
• Serve wine by the bottle and glass
• Serve bottled and draft beer
• Serve food to customers
• Process guest payments
• Regularly check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
• Cleaning/polishing of glasses, utensils, and bar equipment.
• Clean bars, work areas, and tables.
• Stock bar with alcoholic beverages, liquor and other supplies.
• Prep for serving beverages by cutting garnishments and making drink mixes.
• Maintains cleanliness of storerooms, bar areas, glassware and equipment through regular inspections.
• Assists with private parties and service in F&B outlets and event spaces when necessary.
• Keeps management apprised on beverage operations, specific problems and overall performance.
• Maintains performance standards; ensures compliance with policies and operating procedures for the restaurant.
• Maintains proficiency in point-of-sale and restaurant management information system(s).
• Ensures that all legal requirements are consistently adhered to, including federal, state and/or local laws pertaining to alcoholic beverages.
• Attends staff management meetings.
• Monitor's bar closing procedures (checklist) on a routine and random basis.
• Other general duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledgeable in proper methods of food and beverage service. Must have knowledge of etiquette and social customs – tact and good judgment are essential. Must exhibit leadership and be able to direct service personnel to attain effective results as a role model for staff, consistently maintaining appearance, punctuality, attitude and image.

Requirements:

• Experience with exceptional wine, cocktail and spirit knowledge
• Must be able to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills.
• Hospitality focused with outstanding customer service skills.
• Has the ability to teach and train others.
• Track record of promoting an atmosphere of teamwork.
• Attention to detail, extremely organized, creative, positive attitude, self-motivated, polite, and energetic.
• A track record of stability, maturity and a high level of integrity and ethical standards.
• A positive, upbeat approach to challenges; excellent human relations skills and demonstrates supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and lead by example.
