Located in the seasonal Alaskan cruise ship port of Skagway, the Skagway Brewing Company is an expansive three story building featuring an on-site microbrewery, retail store, restaurant, pub, and beer garden totaling seating for up to 350. Plus we take pride in our sustainability efforts - we have a year-round indoor aeroponic "farm" where we grow all of our own leafy greens & culinary herbs. And the harvest yield of this produce is boosted by the carbon dioxide released from the brewing process which we capture and send via pipes over to the garden. Neat stuff!

Job Summary (Bartender: Full Time, Seasonal)

• Bartenders are an important team player, displaying impeccable customer service and composure. They are accountable for taking, creating and responsibly serving alcoholic beverage orders to customers and waitstaff in a friendly and efficient manner, in addition to taking and serving food orders.
• This is a seasonal position running mid-April through mid-October.
• Resume and 3 professional references required at application.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently keep guests comfortable/needs met at all times
• Guide guests through menus, using suggestive selling to boost sales
• Maintain consistent pours, adhering to recipes for all house drinks
• Direct customers to merchandise and special promotions in gift shop
• Run checkout report at end of shift, following all cash control procedures
• Ensure bar is adequately stocked before, during, end of shift
• Maintain our high standards of cleanliness and organization throughout restaurant
• In-depth knowledge of bar and restaurant menus
• In-depth knowledge of brewing process and tasting notes of our ales
• In-depth knowledge of retail merchandise sold in our gift shop
• Direct customers to merchandise and special promotions in gift shop
• Serve alcoholic beverages in accordance with company standards and state alcohol requirement
• Effectively communicate in a concise and respectful manner

Qualifications

• 21+ years old
• 3+ years experience serving in a high-volume, fast-paced establishment
• Possess strong communication and customer service skills
• Flexible and adaptable to quickly changing demands
• Ability to work on your feet for eight hours or more a day & lift large boxes weighing 35+ lbs
