BARTENDER

Directly reports to: Food & Beverage Supervisor(s)/Manager(s)
Additional reports to: Director of Food & Beverage, Executive Chef, Sous Chef & Hotel Administration

JOB DESCRIPTION:

At Embassy Suites by Hilton – Nashville Airport, it is the essential function of all team members to provide our guests with premium hospitality and service. Team members – regardless of position – must be passionate about delivering service with a smile, the HEART of Hospitality and Making it Right in the event that a guest has an unpleasant experience throughout their visit.

Our property features one restaurant/bar location, plus a complimentary evening reception and banquet events. We encourage our Bartenders to create a magical and memorable experience for our guests, and we also want our Bartenders to express their personalities and engage with our guests! Our Bartenders are not always “speed bartender” positions…

We are seeking career minded experienced hospitality and restaurant professionals who have a passion for this industry. Team members will provide knowledgeable and professional service with a genuine desire to place the guest experience at the forefront of each interaction. Previous experience in craft and luxury cocktail creation is essential to the success of this team member.

So, what are we looking for? Additional responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • TEAMWORK MENTALITY! UPBEAT PERSONALITY! PROFESSIONAL MINDSET!
  • Learns guests’ names upon arrival to the restaurant and use guests’ names regularly throughout their dining experience and visit.
  • Process guest orders and describe food and beverage offerings to guests by providing vivid descriptions of each item. The ability of pairing food items with complimenting beverage items is highly preferred.
  • Have the ability to “read each table” in order to anticipate guest needs and respond appropriately and timely to guest concerns and requests, while offering a “customized” experience for guests.
  • Practice salesmanship to enhance the dining experience without allowing guests to over-order.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, popular cocktail recipes, regional, national and international brands of spirits, malted beverages, wine and more.
  • Assist in the development of new seasonal and/or permanent cocktails, focusing on pairings of beverages with culinary menu items.
  • Possess a firm understanding of beverage and culinary menu items in regards to dietary restrictions, allergens, etc. and be able to provide guests with alternative options based on dietary needs.
  • Abide by the property’s Standards of Service to ensure exceptional consistency in all guest interactions.
  • Prepare various syrups, garnishes, flavored rims and more for daily consumption.
  • Stock bar to appropriate PAR levels – including liquor, beer, wine, etc.
  • Maintain industry and company required levels of cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Maintain financial stabilization and balancing of assigned point of sale terminals, as defined by the property’s cash handling policies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Hilton and Embassy Suites culture, amenities and services.
  • Complies with local, state and federal guidelines when serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Executes any and all tasks given to them by supervisor and/or manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum:
      • 1 year of bartending experience in any bar, restaurant or lounge environment
    • Preferred:
      • At least 2 years of bartending experience in hotel bar, restaurant or lounge environment
  • Certifications:
    • Minimum:
      • Tennessee ABC Sellers Permit – has been valid/active for at least 1 year
    • Preferred:
      • Tennessee ABC Sellers Permit – has been valid/active for at least 2 years
      • TiPS Alcohol Certification – has been valid/active for at least 1 year
      • ServSafe Food Handler Certification – has been valid/active for at least 1 year

Additional certifications – including but not limited to – sommelier, cicerone, various stewardships, etc. are not required, but are highly desirable.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to maintain flexible schedule including days, nights, weekdays, weekends and holidays.
  • Responsible, dependable, dedicated and punctual.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – fluent in secondary languages is a plus.
  • Maintain clean and professional appearance.
  • Passion for and knowledge of the food, beverage, hospitality and local tourism industries.

PAY & BENEFITS:

  • Pay rate: $13.00 per hour
    • Pay period ends on the 15th and last day of the month. Pay days are the 5th and 20th of every month
      • Tips:
        • Cash tips are provided daily
        • Credit Card and Room Charge tips are paid on paycheck
