Established in 1913 and located in the popular Marina and Cow Hollow neighborhood (making it one of the oldest saloons in San Francisco), the PlumpJack Balboa Cafe continues its tradition as the "in" place to eat, drink and make merry. The elegant bar and interior decor remain relatively untouched, retaining the magic of times gone by, while the menu offers both treasured favorites and savory new dishes. On any given day - for lunch, brunch, cocktails, or dinner couples, singles, old-timers and newcomers can be found reveling in the joyful din of this San Francisco icon.

We are looking for an experienced Bartender to join our staff. Beverage knowledge is a pivotal component to this position, as is your ability to cater to our Regular clientele. A positive attitude, and a Team first mentality is a must.

Responsibilities:

• To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner, deferring to the Lead Bartender when necessary, to ensure customer satisfaction.
• To extend a courteous, friendly and professional greeting to guests as they arrive, and to thank them as they depart.
• To make the General Manager aware of all guest comments and complaints.
• To be completely familiar with company beverage line and drink recipes.
• To provide properly mixed cocktails and other beverages, as requested, to service staff and the general public.
• To use suggestive selling techniques to promote the sale of food and beverages.
• To follow all specified procedures to properly open and close the bar, including handling bar keys, running POS reports and performing all necessary side work.
• To maintain adequate stock of beverages, supplies and clean glassware in accordance with established pars and routine procedures, and be responsible for the security of beverage stock while on duty.
• To maintain the organization of the bar areas at all time, including emptying trash as needed.
• To review and verify previous shift’s inventory, at the beginning of every shift.
• To follow all specified procedures to correctly handle cash, including signing paid-out sheet for tips received, maintaining adequate cash amount in bank, giving correct change for cash transactions, ringing all drinks through the POS system, and accurately processing credit card vouchers.
• To maintain the proper care and cleanliness of bar ware and serving equipment, handling both to minimize breakage.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Standing/walking approximately 90% of shift.
• Ability to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, bend and kneel for up to 6 hours at a time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, 30 lbs. frequently, and 20 lbs. constantly.
