Solvang Flavors is a small gelato/food and wine cafe looking for a Barista/Cashier. (Food handlers card is a plus) Seeking a reliable worker with reliable transportation who is a great team player and who loves customer service. (Sales experience is a plus) The job as a whole does include but is not limited to: preparing and serving hot and cold beverages, including various types of coffees and teas, to prep food and help serve such food as sandwiches, brownie sundaes and more.
Barista responsibilities include educating customers on our drink and food menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling our wine selection and specialty food items and taking orders as well as bussing and cleaning tables all while providing a helping hand to all team members.
To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and a smile, knowledge of how brewing equipment operates, knowledge of POS systems and cash handling as well as lifting heavy things. You should be able to work various shifts including holiday and weekends. Note: this position’s compensation includes an hourly wage and great tips. Ultimately, we'd like for a person to ensure an excellent experience for our guests.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers with a smile as they enter the store
- Give customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients
- Take orders while paying attention to details including (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, non-dairy options and sugar ratios)
- Prepare food and beverages following recipes
- Serve beverages and prepared foods
- Receive and process payments (cash, Apple Pay and credit cards)
- Keep all stations and cafe clean
- Always be doing something, stock drinks, dry dishes, clean silverware etc.
- Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
- Comply with health and safety regulations
- Communicate customer feedback to managers/owners and recommend new menu items
Skills
- Previous work experience as a Barista or Waiter/Waitress
- Hands-on experience with brewing equipment
- Knowledge of sanitation regulations
- Flexibility to work various shifts
- Basic math skills
- Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
- Excellent communication skills
- High school diploma; relevant training is a plus
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
