HOW WILL YOU IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Banquet Worker provides customers with table service this position assists in making assigned facility efficient and attractive to the public. This position reports to the Banquet Lead, Food Service Supervisor or Food Service Manager.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Serves orders for food and beverages
• Prepares some food items such as salads and sauces
• Assists in escorting guests to and from scheduled activities
• Advises guests regarding menu items
• Assists guests
• Answers guests' questions regarding the Zoo and Safari Park
• Greets guests
• Closes down event in a timely manner
• Follows standard inventory procedures
• Adheres to all SDZWA and department policies and practices
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as required

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The San Diego Zoo is seeking friendly, cooperative, motivated and outgoing employees. These positions require excellent customer service skills with proper and consistent etiquette. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and be available weekends and at least two weekdays.

Please note, if you are 18 years or older and selected for this role you will be required to complete the Responsible Beverage Service Training (RBS) within 60 days of your hire date. Training will be provided to you by the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance and completed on site.

• JOB EXPERIENCE
• Catering/Banquet experience is required
• Some bar tending experience is required
• SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
• Effective customer service skills
• Assist customers in making menu selections
• Deal tactfully and courteously with the public in a diverse environment
• Understand and carry-out instructions
• Understand diagrams
• Make simple arithmetic calculations
• Understand and accurately pour beer, wine and liquor
• Understand and operate equipment and appliances
• Serve guests with proper and consistent etiquette

• Position Type: Part-Time Hourly Non-Exempt Union Position and if selected there will be union fees and dues to be paid to the Union
• Hourly wage: $17.00
