Metz Culinary Management is growing and we have openings for Rock Star Culinary and Hospitality Team Members at our University of Pittsburgh at Bradford location who share our passion for Food and Service. We are seeking team members for full and part-time roles in a busy Student Dining Services setting. Metz Culinary Management offers competitive wages, benefits and Daily Pay* option!

• Baker: Prepare and present DELICIOUS meals and IMPRESSIVE presentations following our Executive Chef Menus. Ability to inventory and portion ingredients. Experience in resort would be ideal but willing to train the right person with a passion for food.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. This can be full or part-time and provides very flexible schedules. Hospitality experience is desired and a SMILE is required!

Requirements:

• Ability to apply elementary mathematical statistics that would apply to inventory and portioning

• Be willing to roll up sleeves and contribute where needed
• Hospitality-driven
• Able to work and thrive in a team environment
• Clean kitchen equipment and tools before use
• Weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough
• Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking
• Mix various ingredients to create fillings for cakes and pies (e.g. chocolate ganache, caramel sauce and fruits)
• Decorate cakes with glazes, icings, buttercream and edible toppings, like flowers
• Shape dough to prepare different types of pastries, including croissants, cookies and sweet rolls
• Prepare custom-made pastries based on customers’ preferences (e.g. birthday cakes)
• Recommend recipes to renew our menu and attract more customers (e.g. gluten-free or vegan desserts)

Track food supplies and place orders, as needed

Skills:

• Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role
• Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters
• Understanding of food safety practices
• Experience with cake decoration techniques
• Excellent time-management skills
• Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
• Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
• Flexibility to work in early morning shifts
• Certification from a culinary school is a plus
• Brings a SMILE and strong work ethic to the TEAM
