We are seeking an AVP, Deductible Systems Engineer for our Alternative Risk Transfer team in our Florham Park, NJ office.

The AVP, Deductible Billing Systems Engineer will manage the servicing of alternative risk structure programs which includes large deductibles, retroactive plans, captives and SIRs across all lines of business that Sompo writes. This role will work closely with the Casualty Product Leader (EVP), Chief Pricing Actuary (EVP), Product Development (EVP), and Operations Leader (EVP). The job will report to the Alternative Risk Transfer (SVP).

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serve as a leader with experience in design, architecture, and engineering of products and/or systems with knowledge of the Insurance Industry
• Serve as the first line technical support and triage for a large-scale financial system;
• The successful candidate will show a willingness to take on any challenge presented to them and resource it in a timescale relevant to urgency;
• Individual must be willing to work off peak hours and weekends from time to time due to overseas business partners and general work requirements;
• Individual will partner with underwriting and operations groups in the implementation of new Deductible requirements;
• Develops system policies and procedures that encompasses workflows across various areas of responsibility, including underwriting, actuary, operations, treasury and claims;
• Develops processes that automate various reporting requirements and or frequently handled tasks;
• Responds and fulfills requests and inquiries from clients and brokers;
• Will be responsible for Audit system compliance requirement documentation and walkthroughs;
• Works closely with Claims, Actuarial, Finance and Underwriting in the documentation and resolution of issues in a timely manner;
• Maintains compliance with all regulatory requirements as well as internal policies, procedures and processing standards. Audits system and provides feedback to the Alternative Risk Manager; Liaise closely with team to ensure information is input correctly into in-house systems in an accurate and timely manner;
• Coordinates with Treasury and Accounting departments and provides reporting requirements applicable to statutory and GAAP financial reporting of any alternative risk transfer policies or transactions;
• Participates in joint clients calls with underwriting and provides consultation to deliver the best possible solution;
• Ability to be a team player;
• Option for Managing People;
• Must be a self-starter; and
• Must be able to balance workload and priority timelines.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

• Undergraduate or advanced degree preferred;
• At least 10 years of insurance experience and an in-depth knowledge of Insurance Structures;
• Strong analytical ability and organizational skills;
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint);
• SQL or Python proficiency required;
• Experience with floating licenses, VOIP, Active Directory, basic file sharing principals;
• Cloud experience beneficial;
• Active Directory knowledge beneficial;
• Excellent communication (both written and verbal) skills; and
• Ability to plan strategically and prioritize workload to meet management objectives.

Sompo International offers a competitive compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience. The minimum salary for this position: $125,000.
