We are seeking a AVP, Claims Actuarial Analyst to support the Global Insurance Claims Organization, to be based out of our New York, NY office. The primary function of this position will be the use of Claims data to create useful and actionable insights for Senior Management and to move towards a more data-driven environment.
We are looking for an individual to be the point person in the Claims department as the organization moves to a more focused data model. The AVP Claims Actuarial Analyst will bring the thinking of an actuary to Claims data and processes, including reporting, data analytics/mining and report development needs for the entire Claims Insurance Division. Looking for a curious person who is a creative thinker! This role will be the in the Claims department and will work closely with the Claims Line of Business leaders, IT, Reserving, and the Claims Operations team.
Main Areas of Responsibility
· Identify areas where analytics can help us find trends, answer questions we cannot yet answer.
· Identify and produce views of new metrics, KPIs, and trends.
· Produce ad hoc analyses as requested by the Global Insurance Claims teams.
· Identify and track data issues, working closing with IT and other stakeholders (e.g. UW, Sompo London) to resolve.
· Gather and present data re Claims metrics.
· Assist various departments e.g. Property / CATs with reporting, metrics and analytics as needed.
· Work with IT to identify areas where data quality needs improvement / modification.
· Other duties or projects as assigned.
· Stay abreast of emerging technology and trends to improve existing processes and capabilities.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Required: 3-5+ years’ experience in data analysis, data mining, or predictive modeling
- Required: 5+ years Insurance industry experience, Property & Casualty preferred
- Preferred: Some actuarial exams or equivalent knowledge/skills
- Proficient in Excel and one or more programming languages (SQL preferred)
- Ability to work in a faced-paced environment is essential; sense of urgency required
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, oral, and written communication skills
- Experience with Guidewire Claim Center a plus
- Experience with Genius, OBIEE, Cognos or comparable a plus
